1. General

  1. This Megaport Community Slack Channel Use Policy (Policy) sets out the rules that apply to user’s use of the Megaport Community Slack Channel (Channel) supplied by Megaport (USA) Inc. or one of its Affiliates (Megaport) on the Megaport network.
  2. The purpose of this Policy is to ensure that use of the Channel is lawful and does not interfere with the network or anyone else who uses the Channel or the internet.
  3. The user is responsible for ensuring that their use of the Channel complies with this Policy. Megaport may monitor all user activity in the Channel and may, at its sole discretion, restrict, suspend or terminate their access to the Channel for any reason, including if a user fails to comply with this Policy, the Term of Engagement, or applicable law.
  4. Each user agrees that national or international laws may be applicable, in respect of Megaport’s supply of the Channel and the user will comply with all applicable laws.
  5. Megaport may perform maintenance or otherwise shut down or make the Channel unavailable at any time at its discretion and without the need for prior notice.

2. General Rules of Engagement for Community Members

To maintain a valuable, respectful, and engaging environment, all members of the Megaport Community are expected to follow these basic guidelines:
  1. Be respectful and professional - Treat others with courtesy. Healthy debate is welcome—disrespect is not.
  2. Stay on topic - Use the appropriate channels for each discussion to keep conversations relevant and organized.
  3. No spam or self-promotion - This is a space for learning and connection—not sales pitches. Share resources, not ads.
  4. Support one another - Offer help when you can, ask questions freely, and be generous with knowledge.
  5. Protect confidentiality - Respect the privacy of others and avoid sharing sensitive information—especially when discussing customer use cases, unreleased features, or roadmap topics.
  6. Use good judgment - If you're unsure whether something is appropriate, err on the side of caution or ask a moderator.
Violations of these general rules of engagement may result in a warning, removal of posts, or loss of access to the community. Our goal is to ensure a safe and productive space for everyone involved.

3. Changes to this Policy

Megaport can make changes to this Policy with immediate effect at any time by posting the updated policy on its website. Each user is responsible for checking the website regularly for updates.

4. Using the Channel

  1. The user warrants that it is legally permitted to agree to this Policy for itself and certifies this by accepting the Terms of this Policy and using the Channel.
  2. The user acknowledges that the Channel may be subject to additional terms and conditions of Slack which the user must comply with fully and indemnify, defend, and hold Megaport harmless for any failure to do so.
  3. In using the Channel, the user will act responsibly and use the Channel for lawful purposes only.
  4. The user is strictly prohibited from using the channel for lead generation or solicitation of business or sales.
  5. The user must not use, attempt to use or allow the Channel to be used to store, send, distribute or otherwise make available any content or material that:
    1. is prohibited by or breaches any applicable laws and any other order, regulation, standard, code of practice or guideline or which is likely to be offensive or obscene to a reasonable person;
    2. is confidential or subject to copyright or third party intellectual property rights (unless user has a lawful right to do so);
    3. defames, harasses, threatens or abuses anyone or violates their privacy or misuses their personal data; or
    4. is otherwise illegal, fraudulent or likely to give rise to civil liability or criminal prosecution.
  6. The user must not do anything that endangers any person or the integrity, security or performance of Megaport’s network, systems, or equipment or that of anyone else. The user must not use, attempt to use or allow the Channel to be used to:
    1. obtain or attempt to obtain unauthorised access to Megaport’s or anyone else’s equipment, systems, networks or personal data for any purpose;
    2. store, send or distribute any viruses or other harmful programs, codes or malicious software;
    3. store, send or distribute tools designed for compromising security including, but not limited to, password guessing programs, cracking tools, packet sniffers or network probing tools;
    4. hinder, restrict or interfere with the normal operation of the Channel, Megaport’s systems, network or equipment or that of anyone else;
    5. access or search any part of the Channel, or data relating to Channel or other other Megaport users, by any means other than Megaport’s publicly supported interfaces (for example, not engage in “scraping”); or
    6. hinder, restrict or interfere with the ability of other people or systems to use Megaport’s Channel or any services provided by anyone else.
  7. The user must comply with applicable laws in respect of the sending of unsolicited messages or spam and in particular must not:
    1. send, relay or distribute any unlawful unsolicited commercial electronic messages;
    2. send messages that do not include accurate sender information and do not contain an unsubscribe facility; or
    3. use or distribute any software designed to harvest email addresses.
  8. In using the Channel, the user must not:
    1. obscure, alter or delete the source of message that user sends, or forge message headers;
    2. send or distribute material with the intent of overloading the network or system or that of anyone else (e.g. ‘mail bombing’); or
    3. make fraudulent offers or promote any type of financial scam (e.g. ‘pyramid schemes’, ‘Ponzi schemes’).
  9. The user must not do anything to authorise, aid, abet, encourage or incite any person to do or attempt to do any of the acts or engage in any conduct that is prohibited by this Policy.
  10. The user must not store, send or distribute, attempt to store, share or distribute or otherwise make available any of the Channel content, material or data to any third party.
  11. This Policy provides examples of restricted behaviour but does not list all restricted behaviours. Megaport retains full discretion to decide whether a user’s use violates the Policy.

5. Privacy

The user understands that Megaport may collect personal information and the message content and data sent through the Channel. The user acknowledges and agrees that its personal information will be processed in accordance with the Megaport Slack Community – Personal Information Collection Statement.

6. Access and Content Responsibility

  1. The user is responsible for any content user posts in or through the Channel.
  2. The user must not use the Channel to send or distribute any content that is prohibited, deemed obscene or offensive or otherwise unlawful under any applicable law.
  3. The user is responsible for determining the content and information the user chooses to access on the Internet when using the Channel.
  4. The user warrants that the content the user copies, stores, sends, distributes or otherwise makes available using the Channel complies with this Policy including applicable laws in respect of data protection and privacy. The user authorises Megaport (or Megaport’s agents) to copy, store, send, distribute or otherwise make available such content as necessary for Megaport to deliver the content.

7. Megaport’s compliance obligations under applicable laws

The user acknowledges that:
  1. copyright owners or their agents may direct Megaport to remove copyright materials from the Channel or to prevent people from accessing those materials;
  2. Megaport may provide information (including personal information) about users and their use of the Channel to copyright owners and their agents;
  3. appropriate law enforcement authorities or agencies may direct Megaport to remove from the Channel and servers any content which is classified, or likely to be classified, as prohibited, obscene or indecent content;
  4. Megaport may take steps to minimise the amount of unsolicited electronic messages; and
  5. Megaport may take steps to comply with any such directions or requirements of law enforcement authorities or agencies, without notice to the user.

8. Monitoring and Breach of this Policy

  1. If Megaport reasonably believes that the user is using the Channel in a way that breaches this Policy, Megaport may take any responsive action Megaport considers appropriate. This may include the blocking or removal of any data or content or the suspension or termination of access to the Channel.
  2. Megaport will have no liability for the user’s loss of access or content resulting from Megaport taking such actions.
